Linux desktop applications commonly support PDF export or printing to a file. Scanner applications can produce PDF or image output, but package names and dialogs vary by distribution.

Export or print to a file

Create a final PDF from the source application. Use a scanner application only when the document still exists on paper.

Inspect with a PDF viewer

Check rendering, page size, order, signatures, form fields, and any fonts that may have substituted during export.

Upload in a supported browser

Use a current browser, enter the destination and email, select the PDF or supported images, and wait for preparation.

Check the prepared fax

Compare the destination and page count before checkout, then retain the final result and local source file.

Do I need HylaFAX to fax from Linux?

No. HylaFAX is for a local fax-server workflow. A browser service can transmit an uploaded PDF without it.

Which Linux distributions work?

Any desktop distribution with a current browser and a supported PDF, JPG, or PNG file can use the browser flow.

Can I fax a LibreOffice file directly?

Export it to PDF first, then verify the final rendering before upload.
