Windows PC fax guide

Fax from Windows without finding a modem or phone line.

Use Windows to make the final PDF, not to dial the recipient. A browser-based fax service handles transmission after you upload and review the document.

Prepare the file on Windows PC.

Office applications can save or export directly to PDF. For paper, Windows can work with a connected scanner through its scan tools. Whichever route you use, reopen the saved PDF before uploading it.

Device workflow

From Windows PC to fax in four checks.

01

Create one final document

Export the completed file to PDF or scan the paper pages. Avoid sending an editable draft when a stable PDF is available.

02

Inspect the saved copy

Check signatures, filled fields, fonts, page breaks, orientation, and accidental blank pages in a PDF viewer.

03

Upload through the browser

Open Just One Fax in a current browser, enter the destination and email, then select the PDF or supported images.

04

Compare, pay, and retain

Match the prepared page count and fax number to your source before checkout. Save the final status with the exact file sent.

Windows PC preflight

  • The PDF opens without a password or repair warning
  • Fonts, fields, signatures, and comments appear as intended
  • No scanner feeder pages are missing, doubled, or upside down
  • The fax number came from current recipient instructions

Official platform sources

Platform instructions were checked August 24, 2026. Interface labels can change with operating-system versions; reopen the final saved file rather than relying on a button name alone.

Device questions

Before you upload.

Do I need Windows Fax and Scan?

No. Create the document on Windows and upload it through a browser; the online service handles transmission.

Can I fax a Word document from Windows?

Export it to PDF first so you can verify the exact pages, fonts, and filled fields before sending.

Does my PC need a fax modem?

No. A fax modem is only needed when the computer itself dials over a compatible telephone line.
